When books built for a commercial business are retrofitted for federal compliance, the result is predictable: Contractors scrambling before DCAA audits, overpaying on indirect rates, and operating without real visibility into contract profitability.
Amerifusion was founded to close that gap.
Our founder, Joseph Kamara, spent over 15 years inside Big 4 financial audit at KPMG, senior technology risk management at Stryker, and IS assurance and third-party attestations at BDO. He saw firsthand how financial systems succeed or fail under regulatory pressure. When he launched Amerifusion in 2024, the mission was clear: bring that same caliber of compliance rigor and financial discipline to small and mid-size government contractors, the companies that need it most but can least afford a full-time compliance team.
We are not a general-purpose bookkeeping firm that happens to serve GovCon clients. We are a DCAA-specialized, CPA-managed operation built from Day 1 around the Federal Acquisition Regulation. That is the difference.

Meet Our Founder
Joseph Kamara
Founder & Managing Consultant
Joseph Kamara is a CPA with 15+ years of experience spanning Big 4 financial audit at KPMG, senior technology risk management and third-party risk management at Fortune 500 companies including Stryker, and a senior manager role in IS Assurance and Third-Party Attestations at BDO’s Dallas office, where he led SOC 1, SOC 2, HITRUST, and HIPAA engagements.
That attestation work is the same work. A SOC 2 engagement tests a system against published criteria and reports where it falls short. A SOC 1 engagement does it for the controls behind financial reporting. A DCAA pre-award survey tests an accounting system against the 18 criteria in DFARS 252.242-7006. The framework changes. The discipline does not. Joseph has spent years reading a standard, testing a system against it, and reporting exactly where it failed.
Joseph holds CPA, CISA and CISSP certifications. The CPA licence governs the accounting. CISA and CISSP govern whether the system producing it can be trusted, which is the same question a DCAA auditor asks about your accounting system.
Beyond bookkeeping, Joseph advises on federal technology compliance through The Audit Defense Library, covering FISMA, FedRAMP, CMMC, and federal AI governance. For Amerifusion clients, this means your bookkeeping team understands the full federal contractor compliance picture, not just the financials.
Based in Texas, Working Nationwide
Amerifusion is based in Northlake, Texas, just north of Fort Worth. We work with federal contractors across the United States.
Most of the work happens remotely, so your location does not limit whether we can take you on. Dallas-Fort Worth, the DC, Maryland and Virginia corridor, California: the work is the same. Some conversations are better face to face, and we travel when a client needs that.
Why This Firm Exists
Amerifusion was built to do two things. Help federal contractors keep books that hold up under audit. And, once the practice can sustain it, fund education and entrepreneurship, here and in Sierra Leone, where I am from.
That second part is an intention, not a program. There is no foundation yet and no money committed. When there is, this page will say so, with the registration to back it.
